My name is Luiz Guilherme Natalio de Mello, and I am a Data Analyst and Researcher working on sustainability, social issues, and technology. I am currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Public Policy and Management at the University of Lisbon and investigating how the Brazilian social security addresses social vulnerability to disasters, fiscal resilience to disasters and tax policy in response to such processes. I am a member of the Latin American Studies Association (LASA), where I develop research on environmental issues in Latin America.

I am passionate about using technology to address social issues (focus on sustainability) in business (data for good). Being a data analyst (skills below) with a legal and social science background allows me to have an unique approach of how elements of society are connected to trends. Studying sustainability makes me remember every day that we are living in the ‘Pale Blue Dot’. As it is our home, I began to feel passionate about understanding and interacting with people from other cultures. It was the starting point for a hobby: foreign languages. I started learning languages seriously in 2014, and I taught myself English (advanced), Spanish (advanced) and French (intermediate). I also know some German (basic) and Japanese (basic). Certainly, I know Portuguese as well (my mother tongue). I already wrote about it.

Meu nome é Luiz Guilherme Natalio de Mello, investigo temas sociais, sustentabilidade e tecnologia (especialmente tudo que envolva dados). Atualmente estou fazendo o mestrado em gestão e políticas públicas na Universidade de Lisboa e pesquisando como a seguridade social aborda vulnerabilidade social em um contexto de desastres no Brasil. Além disto, estudo o papel da tributação em contextos de desastres. Sou membro da Associação de Estudos Latino-Americanos (LASA) e lá desenvolvo pesquisas sobre questões ambientais na América Latina.

Sou apaixonado em usar a tecnologia (especialmente dados) para abordar questões sociais, com foco em sustentabilidade, nos negócios e no monitoramento de políticas públicas (data for good).
